The EU Commission has approved Aviator’s acquisition of the former Servisair Ground Handling operations at London Gatwick and Newcastle Airports in the UK and at Helsinki Airport in Finland – as well as the former operations of Swissport International at Birmingham Airport in the UK.
Aviator agreed to purchase these operations from Swissport International in April this year.
At London Gatwick, Newcastle and Birmingham, Aviator will provide ground handling for a wide range of national and international airlines.
Aviator is currently the largest independent aviation services provider in the Nordic region and enters the UK market in line with its strategic development plans.
Aviator CEO Paul Synnott: “We have a clear strategy to broaden our portfolio of aviation related services in the UK and to use our presence here as a platform for expansion both within the UK and into new geographical markets.”
With the acquisition, Aviator adds almost 600 employees in the UK and 300 in Finland to its present 2,900 personnel.
Aviator is a full-range provider of aviation services, operating at 24 airports in the Nordic region and the UK. Aviator has its head office in Stockholm, Sweden, and is majority owned by the investment fund Accent Equity 2008. In 2013, the Group recorded a turnover of approx. EUR 200m.
